We lay the site out for smaller devices, then alter the appearance for Ways to work with the Bootstrap grid: Bootstrap Grid System works with a set of rows, columns, and containers to layout plus align material. Here is the aside Home About Blog Careers Contact Us Copyright © 2017 My Site In this scenario we will have the navigation appear between the header and main content on wide screens, with the navigation below the content in both the markup and on narrow screens (see Figure 4-1): Document Heading This is the heading of the main section This is a paragraph of text. It’s built with flexbox and is fully responsive. It makes me wonder how many other things get overridden because of Bootstrap - especially really complex things like the FNC Page Control. We covered a typical layout in Chapter 3. How it works Bootstrap’s grid system uses a series of containers, rows, and columns to layout and align content. it has taken a while to get used to the fact that if you copy and paste certain things (eg., TWebLabels) where the ElementFont is set to efProperty gets changed back to efCSS when it's pasted, so it doesn't work without changing it back right away. The problem is, some are really hard to tell if they're from MY code or the fact that this whole facade is running on top of HTML, CSS, and javascript. I just seem to be running into a lot of them. I don't expect it to be free of quirks and glitches, as long as I can find workarounds for dead-ends I encounter. (I could have made them all the same color, but I guess I was excited to finally find something that would show a color at run-time other than clBtnFace.)ĭon't get me wrong. But it took three different approaches to get something that I could have done fairly quickly in VCL. I settled on something like a trackbar that has 7 segments, each one a different color (think rainbow) and they light up to reflect the internal state. I guess the Good News is that this little display was an outgrowth of the issue originally mentioned here because I had no way of seeing what the internal state of my app was, so I made something to display it. ![]() Then I tried an FNC Panel and viola! The colors show up! I tried to use a string grid, but got three different compiler errors that blocked me from going further. ![]() Bruno has shown it work in isolation, but I can't get it to work in my form. But some are behaviors that just don't work as expected.įor example, I have not been able to get TWebPanels to display a color on them, no matter if I set it at design time or at run-time. In many cases it's because of undefined properties or methods or other things that raise compiler errors. I've spent an unexpectedly large amount of time having to find workarounds for things that don't do what they should. The behaviors of VCL components is very consistent and predictable. This may be related, but I can't say for sure. Having Bootstrap active, I notice some unexpected things from time to time. It has come up previously which is why I decided to mention it, but in this case there seems to have been an explanation. Has anybody else run into this and solved it? If so, what did you do? But I need it to work like VCL Page Controls where the contents of a tabsheet don't completely reset if you click on another tab and then come back.Īlso, I have some nested page controls so it's not always switching from one tab to another in the same control it can happen when you go to a sub-tab, then switch tabs to another one in the parent and then go back. I don't know if this is a "bug" where the Z-order inside of the Page Contols is not being managed correctly, or just another side-effect of dealing with an inherintly stateless canvas. In this case I'm using an FNC Page Control, but it happens with the regular TWebPageControl as well. Resetting the visual display like this totally screws-up all of the "work-in-progress" that has already happened. This poses a problem in my case because I'm creating and allocating things to some lists and using content in the controls to know where the user is at in their process, like checklistboxes, grids, multi-selections, treeviews, things in memos, etc. ![]() At least, not in my app when I select a different tab in a Page Control and then return - the visual controls on the previous page lose any changes that may have been made. I've noticed that forms in WEB Core are not stateful. ![]()

Metal garden edges most often feature wrought iron works of art which look absolutely stunning. ![]() Concrete blocks are installed relatively easy and can mimic different types of natural stone or brick. It does not rot like wood, it does not warp and bears all types of weather conditions. Gabion edge works for modern and minimalist interiors and has a timeless charm.Ĭoncrete is one of the most durable types of garden edging. A variety of stone edge is the gabion which is another way to use stones but in this case they are placed in a cage. You could use small stones that you gathered on a river bank or even in your own backyard, or big stones and rocks which will attract the attention to your garden beds but either way, it will have a beautiful look. Stone borders for flower beds provide a natural appearance and the varieties can look from rustic to casual and easily fir to many landscape styles. Salvaged bricks have a wonderful worn out look and a lot of unique character. Bricks can be arranged in various patterns and are always an excellent choice for a pathway around the flower beds. There are a number of options – recycled bricks, stone bricks, etc., which will reduce the cost of the landscaping. The only concern that you may have design wise is that you will be limited to straight line edging because of the material.īricks are another material that will add a classic or rustic look to your outdoor area. Although treated wood has a long life span, it is susceptible to moisture damage and eventually will rot. The variety of options id unlimited – you could use reclaimed wood, driftwood or specially treated wood edging which has a long life span and is a cost effective investment. It adds an organic look and is suitable for both rustic and modern landscapes. Wood is one of the most traditional materials which has a preserved place in landscaping. Of course, it requires maintenance and refreshing so that the edge looks neat. A trench actually cost nothing, except some labor, and will give a more casual and informal look. Basically, this means to make a shallow trench between the grass and the flower beds which will be a barrier between the different zones. ![]() A trench edging is perhaps the most affordable and easiest way for garden edging. ![]() ![]() ![]() This can be fun if you find a colorless/legendary Queen Rapier on a Tactics build. Some melee weapon "blasts" are also considered as ranged for the purpose of point blank or tranquility, like Queen Rapier Slash, Sesmic Strike, Flint or Bouzouki which area of effect impact is considered ranged, and can be enhanced by point blank. I mentioned pets and turrets don't work, that's because they are considered as indirect damage and are not enhanced by any % dmg mutations. This guide caters towards the Awakened Mystic. They are required to do more and have ways to support the party such as shielding knockdowns and push backs, as well as buffing the party. You will notice that throwing a Giant fist at point blank will hit for higher damage. Awakening Mystic’s awakening changes their game-play a bit. Same if you take Giant Whisle and try it in the training room. me personally i used to like melee in video games because the armors and weapons are often nicer but then later on i prefered magic because the abilities look nice compared to just swinging a huge nice looking sword. This shows that point blank range is computed on every damage tick and apply on any "ranged" attack. By ranged im talking like Bows/Guns/ stuff you wouldn’t consider magic based. ![]() So for example, if you use Lacerating Aura, the outer shrapnel ring is considered outside of the point blank range, but as you engage the enemy at point blank, you will notice the Aura damage tick increases (I noticed the same for Tornado and other lasting powers). ![]() The bonus eligibility is computed on every damage tick, so whenever you proc damage, it recomputes the distance between you and the damage target. The differing form of USB-A and USB-B helps to enforce the mono-directional aspect of these iterations of USB. Just like USB-A, it’s the original designation for the two ends of a non-symmetrical cable. Only one, as the connector is not rotationally symmetrical and both ends are different, corresponding to a different type of port. The odds are you have plenty of USB-A connectors at home and you’re quite familiar with the way the look. USB-A is the most commonly known USB type. Now, USB-C is joining the game and now changing everything. ![]() ![]() Originally, there were just two USB types, USB-A and USB-B. USB has had several different form specifications for its connectors. What Do I Need to Know About USB-C, USB-B, and USB-A Differences? This flexibility continues to drive improvements in the USB standard and its current model in USB-C. Thus, USB devices are much more interchangeable and can also be hot-swapped. USB interfaces also typically require no additional configuration of data speed, input/output addresses, and memory access channels. ![]() That means you daisy-chain monitors to have a seamless viewing experience. Before USB, users had to contend with an array of different, bulky cables and connectors, such as parallel, serial, VGA, and PS/2 ports for keyboards and mice, which notoriously had the same form factor but were not functionally interchangeable.Ī particular advantage of USB over these previous connections is that it combines data and power, largely avoiding the need for independent power supplies for external devices. This universality has only recently come close to reality with USB-C, but even the initial iterations greatly improved earlier connection technologies. That is, it originally hoped to standardize communication and power sources for computer peripherals. USB’s primary aim is indicated by the universal of the title. The original standard was released in 1996. That means that the USB standard specifies both the actual form of cabling and connectors and the structure of the data that passes through them. USB, or universal serial bus, is a protocol and hardware standard for digital communications. ![]() As the speeds have increased, so has the physical design of the connectors, and the latest form factor, USB-C, marks a significant improvement on USB-A and USB-B. The first version was released in 1996, and the most recent speed upgrade is USB4, released in 2019, though it is not yet widely implemented. Like any technology, it has progressed over time and had various iterations, with significant speed and power improvements. USB is an industry standard for cables and connectors. Or find out how ViewSonic USB-C monitors can bring you a whole host of benefits. Read on to discover how all that changes with USB-C. However, the range of USB connectors leads to possible confusion. USB-C is a more versatile and powerful standard and is set to be the main connector for years to come. The USB-C, USB-B, and USB-A differences are most obvious in their physical form, but the distinctions run much deeper. ![]() Color me badd then and now12/31/2023 ![]() ![]() Like the New Kids, they were clearly inspired by New Edition. (Kevin Thornton, the one Black member of the group, didn’t look like anyone in particular.) Color Me Badd started around the same time as the New Kids. I always thought there was something very central-casting about Color Me Badd - the guy who looked like Kenny G, the guy who looked like latter-day Brian Austin Green attempting to look like George Michael, the guy who looked like George Michael attempting to look like Fabio. Knowing nothing about Color Me Badd’s background before researching this column, I probably would’ve assumed that they’d been assembled by some budding svengali, the way New Kids On The Block had been. It makes me think of a racehorse in sunglasses and a backwards baseball cap. ![]() Color Me Bad is already a beautifully terrible name changing the spelling to “Badd” makes it even worse and, thus, better. Later on, they changed it up, naming themselves after a racehorse called Color Me Bad. Hamza Lee, that talent show’s musical director, would later become Color Me Badd’s producer he co-wrote “I Adore Mi Amor” with the group.Īt first, these four singers called themselves Take One. (Hi-Five, who were in this column a couple of weeks ago, had members from Waco and from Oklahoma City, and it’s truly bizarre to think about Oklahoma City as a hotbed of early-’90s male R&B vocal groups.) Color Me Badd started in 1985, and they first played live at a local talent show, where they sang a Levis jingle. The four members of Color Me Badd got together at Northwest High School in Oklahoma City, where they all sang in the choir. In any case, “I Adore Mi Amor” goes down in history as Color Me Badd’s first #1 hit, so that’s what we’re talking about here. The Billboard charts aren’t necessarily about what I remember. Or maybe “I Wanna Sex You Up” just stuck in my head, and those other two songs didn’t. Maybe radio programmers were still a little too afraid of the word “sex” to let Color Me Badd’s signature song go all the way, and maybe “I Wanna Sex You Up” did the work of kicking the door open and the next couple of Color Me Badd singles were just able to cruise. (It’s a 7.) Later on, two other Color Me Badd songs - songs that I only barely remember existing - would blow past that spot to #1. Instead, “I Wanna Sex You Up” peaked at #2, and it held that spot for four weeks straight. ![]() In the official record, though, “I Wanna Sex You Up” was not Color Me Badd’s biggest single. I remember “I Wanna Sex You Up” being everywhere in 1991, and it was definitely a huge hit. “I Wanna Sex You Up” wasn’t the first song of its kind, but with its sighing backup vocals and its softly insistent Slick Rick and Betty Wright samples, it set the table for much of what would follow in the years ahead. (It’s also got a very funny line about “we can do it till we both wake up,” so maybe Color Me Badd didn’t understand how sex works.) That combination of elements, we’d soon learn, would become one of the dominant radio sounds of the ’90s.Ĭolor Me Badd referred to their sound as hip-hop doo-wop, and that style, minus the goofy name, would power seduction jams for the next decade. The title is silly and horny and extremely memorable, and there’s a funny disconnect between the couch-humping lyrics and the feathery, angelic delivery of the Color Me Badd boys. It’s a breezy little R&B jam that nods in the direction of rap music without including any actual rapping. “I Wanna Sex You Up” landed at the exact right moment. If you remember Color Me Badd, then you probably remember them as the guys with the carefully-sculpted facial hair who sang “I Wanna Sex You Up.” That’s their legacy, but that’s not what the charts tell us. Consider the case of Color Me Badd, the multi-racial Oklahoma City R&B vocal group with the extremely funny name. But sometimes, those numbers don’t line up with lived experience. The team at the magazine hones formulas and crunches numbers, and they’ve got a whole evolving methodology to figure out the most popular song in America during any given week. The Billboard charts aim for some kind of objectivity. In The Number Ones, I’m reviewing every single #1 single in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, starting with the chart’s beginning, in 1958, and working my way up into the present. ![]() Caramel bits brownies12/31/2023 ![]() ![]() I highly recommend sprinkling each one with just a little bit of sea salt right before serving.
